The Modern Baker is my new book,
published
in September 2008 by DK Publishing. In it, I show you how today's baker
takes a new approach to baking, using the most up-to-date tools and
techniques to bake everything from bread to biscotti to puff pastry to
old-fashioned layer cakes easily and quickly—in many cases in under an
hour. The Modern Baker contains chapters devoted to
quick breads; breads; yeast-risen specialties; savory tarts and pies;
sweet tarts and pies; puff pastries; cakes; and cookies, bars, and
biscotti; as well as a thorough tutorial on ingredients, equipment, and
techniques.
The Modern Baker is also a website, where
I'll be posting videos demonstrating essential baking techniques. Some
of these videos will walk you through a general technique that you can
use in lots of different recipes; others will simply show you a tip for
making a particular recipe with much less difficulty. By checking the
website regularly, you'll get lots of visuals to accompany the
instructions in my recipes in The Modern Baker,
making it even easier to achieve stellar results.
